Have you been thinking about downsizing your luxury property? If so, then stay tuned, because I’m going to share a few tips for downsizing success.

In our bigger is better culture, there’s an expectation that each new home should be bigger and better than the last. But life changes like divorce, kids leaving for college, or even growing older might mean it’s time to downsize from your luxury property into a smaller – still luxurious- home that better fits your shifting needs and lifestyle.

First: Make sure you Determine your goals and limitations. Do you want to live closer to family? Cut down on home maintenance? Do you need access to medical care? In the case of divorce, are there child custody issues you need to take into account? Make a wish list of features and prioritize them from most to least important.

Next,  begin to sort your belongings. Remember you will have less space, so decide what to keep, and what to sell or donate. If you have sentimental pieces or family heirlooms, or just useful items you no longer need, think about who in your life would benefit from having them. You may just find an unexpected gift in downsizing– more time and energy to spend on the activities and the people that you love. I hope you found this helpful…there’s a lot more to think about, like the timing of buying and selling…and I’ll be sharing that in a future video. Tune in next week. IF you would like to know more about luxury downsizing, feel free to teach out to my team and I.
